Kali Tiger Reserve

Kali Tiger Reserve is located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka State. Covering the taluks of Haliyal, Karwar and Joida, the Kali Tiger Reserve (KTR) is part of the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It lies between latitudes 14° 57’ 23.04” N; longitudes 74° 15’ 7.56” East and latitude 15° 9’ 56.16” North; longitude 74° 43’ 10.56” East.

The Tiger Reserve comprises of two important protected areas of the region viz., Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and Anshi National Park. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary (475.018 sq km) and Anshi National Park (339.866 sq km) are contiguous to each other and form a single tract of protected area located in biologically sensitive Western Ghats. These two protected areas are administratively unified under Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve.

Kulgi nature education camp is situated in the very beautiful tracts of forests of Sahyadri hills. It is 12km away from Dandeli towards Ambikanagar.

Attiveri Bird Sanctuary

Attiveri Bird Sanctuary is situated in Mundgod taluka of Uttara Kannada District. The sanctuary consists of a reservoir built across Tayavvanahalla at Attiveri in Mundgod taluka passing through the forests of Dundasi forest range in Haveri forest division.

A reservoir was constructed by irrigation department at Attiveri in midst of forests of Mundgod range in Yallapur Forest Division in the year 1992. Birds started attracting by this reservoir in large numbers year after year noticing by Yallapur Forest Division started improving this area by taking up development works for bird habitat and sent proposals to declare this as a sanctuary for the protection and conservation of the bird life. This area was declared as Attiveri Bird Sanctuary by the Government in the year 2000. Extent of the sanctuary is 560 acres comprising 548 acres of reserve forest and 12 acres private lands.
